29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1): The employer did not develop, implement, and/or maintain at the workplace a written hazard communication program which describes how the criteria specified in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f), (g), and (h) will be met: (Construction Reference: 1926.59)  At the job site located at 22506 West 61st St. Shawnee, Kansas, employees engaged in roofing activities were exposed to chemical hazards in that a written hazard communication program had not been developed, implemented and maintained at the job site. Employees were handling CertainTeed NorthGate polymer modified asphalt shingles, Mule-Hide Products JTS 1 joint & termination sealant and gasoline. The chemical hazards associated with these chemicals include: skin, eye and respiratory irritation, redness, itching and burning, drowsiness and/or dizziness, is suspected of causing cancer and may be fatal if swallowed and enters airways. Additionally, gasoline can act as a fueling agent due to its extreme flammability as a liquid and vapor.
