Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure.   a. Located at 55 Spelt Street, Marysville, OH 43040:  On or about May 2, 2024, the controlling employer did not ensure that sub-contracted roofers were protected from falls while working more than 6 feet above the lower level.  A crew of five sub-contracted roofing employees were installing roofing shingles on a two-story residential construction project at a height of approximately 21 feet without any form of fall protection in place, which exposed them to fall hazards.
