OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by and caught-between hazards.    At the worksite located at 2125 North Golden Avenue, Springfield, Missouri:  Employees were exposed to struck-by and caught-between hazards when traversing between conveyors at the Peddi-writer 2.  Steel beams were etched by the Peddi-writer and exited by way of the conveyors.  There was a gap in the conveyors that measured approximately 12 feet 8 inches wide.   Employees on foot as well as on forklifts passed through the gap between the conveyors.     AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS:   a)  Use physical barriers such as guardrails, bollards, or chain barriers to separate walkways from areas where machinery is operated.   b)  Designate crosswalks at high-traffic areas with clear markings and signs, ensuring pedestrians have the right of way.   c)  Install automated gates or barriers that control pedestrian movement in and out of certain zones, ensuring only authorized personnel enter high-risk areas.   d)  Ensure pedestrian walkways lead away from dangerous areas, limiting the exposure to conveyor belt and steel beam hazards.   e)  Conduct regular safety training sessions for all employees on pedestrian safety, conveyor belt awareness, and safe walking practices in the yard.   f)  Develop a strict policy for walking in designated areas and always staying alert.   g)  Use disciplinary actions for employees who fail to follow safety protocols.   h)  Develop, implement, and regularly review and audit safety procedures, identifying any potentials hazards or areas for improvement.

29 CFR 1910.176(a):  Aisle(s) and passageway(s) were not kept clear and in good repair with no obstruction across or in aisles that could create a hazard.  At the worksite located at 2125 North Golden Avenue, Springfield, Missouri:  Employees were exposed to struck-by and caught-between hazards when traversing between conveyors at the Peddi-writer 2.  Steel beams exited the Peddi-writer after getting etched.  There was an approximate 12-foot 8-inch gap between the conveyors exiting the machine.  Employees on foot as well as forklift traffic passed through the gap multiple times per shift.

29 CFR 1910.22(d)(1):  The employer did not ensure that walking-working surfaces are inspected, regularly and as necessary, and maintained in a safe condition.    At the worksite located at 2125 North Golden Avenue, Springfield, Missouri:  Employees were exposed to slip, trip, and fall hazards when traversing between conveyors at the Peddi-writer 2.  The employer did not ensure the walking-working surface was in a safe condition.  There was no signage to indicate crossing between conveyors at the Peddi-writer 2 may be dangerous.
