29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. a) On or about February 1, 2025, at an establishment located at 1919 South Broadway Street in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the employer did not ensure that adequate guarding was provided on the 3-phase, pedestal disc sander (EID # 1-038-277-000 and/or 1038-323-000) to prevent employee exposure to the abrasion and caught-between hazards created by the the unused portion of the disc, and the rotating disc and work rest. The machine was not effectively guarded to prevent exposure to these hazards.
