What this inspection record means

OSHA opens inspections for many reasons — routine scheduling under a national or local emphasis program, an employee complaint or referral, or a follow-up after a reported injury. 29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(8):The employer shall maintain in the workplace copies of the required safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical, and shall ensure that they are readily accessible during each work shift to employees when they are in their work area(s). On or about April 30, 2025, the employer failed to ensure that employees had ready access to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for hazardous chemicals used in the workplace. The SDS were stored only in the coordinator's office located in the administrative area, creating a barrier to immediate employee access during the work shift. As a result, employees handling chemicals such as WD-40, classified as a flammable aerosol and aspiration toxicant, were exposed to chemical hazards without direct access to required safety information.
