29 CFR 1904.39(a)(2): Basic Requirement. Within twenty-four (24) hours after the in-patient hospitalization of one or more employees or an employee's amputation or an employee's loss of an eye, as a result of a work-related incident, you must report the in-patient hospitalization, amputation, or loss of an eye to OSHA. a) On or about August 21, 2025, an employee was operating a crane to move I-Beams and was injured when a beam fell over and struck his leg, resulting in his hospitalization. The employer learned of the hospitalization on August 21, 2025 but did not report the hospitalization to OSHA until August 25, 2025. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
