29 CFR 1926.302(b)(10):"Abrasive blast cleaning nozzles." The blast cleaning nozzles shall be equipped with an operating valve which must be held open manually. A support shall be provided on which the nozzle may be mounted when it is not in use. On or about October 4, 2025, at the worksite located at the Kellnersville, Wisconsin water tower, employee were exposed to struck by injuries from abrasive blasters that were operated with a device used to disable the operating valve and allowed the tools to operate without manually holding the valve open. The employees had made a ball of electric tape, attached to a chain and connected to the nozzle, that could be jammed under the operating valve to allow it to run continuously without manually holding the valve open.
