29 CFR 1910.184(c)(9): Safe operating practices. Whenever any sling is used, the following practices shall be observed: All employees shall be kept clear of loads about to be lifted and of suspended loads. a) On or about December 11th 2025, the employer did not ensure that employees in the stamping department were kept clear of suspended loads. Employees were allowed to place their hands on coils weighing up to approximately 17000Kg while the coils were suspended from a steel chain sling attached to an overhead crane(LC&E Lilli Crane and & Equipment Co, 10Ton, Serial# E4503) in order to guide, align, and/or stop coils from spinning.
