29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. a. Spangler Candy Company - Bryan, Ohio: On or about February 17, 2026, the employer did not ensure that the MMP Mogul line was guarded to protect employees from rotating parts and pinch points created as trays are transferred on the line. Employees were exposed to injury to their hands/fingers when required to bypass guarding to set and retrieve a tray on the line for quality control tests. b. Spangler Candy Company - Bryan, Ohio: On or about February 17, 2026, employees who reached into the DD Press stick hoppers, such as but not limited to at Line A, were exposed to a pinch point hazard created by the rotating stick drum and stationary guide. Employees used their hands to remove sticks and to facilitate feeding sticks in the hopper as the drum rotated.
