Employee with COVID-19 infection is hospitalized

Investigation abstract

An employee was working as a border guard conducting border crossing auto and pedestrian inspections when he was exposed to people crossing into the country who were potentially infected with COVID-19. The employee tested positive for COVID-19 and was hospitalized on October 4, 2021, due to complications. Contact tracing was not conducted because the employee was away from the workplace for four days preceding the diagnosis. No other employees tested positive for COVID-19 around the time of the employee's diagnosis and no additional cases were linked back to the employee.
