Two employees were taking an old boiler unit that had been inactive for several years and replacing it with a new unit. One of the employees had been cutting some of the old piping and the other employee started to take off the controls from the boiler. At some point, the employee taking off the controls hit a control that opened a valve on one of the pipes that had already been cut. That particular pipe was attached to another active boiler. When the valve opened it sprayed the other employee that was cutting out the old piping with hot water and steam causing first and second degree burns to his chest, arm, shoulder, and knee. He was hospitalized.

Hospitalized Multiple body parts, n.e.c. Steam, vapors, liquids, ice, n.e.c.
