An employee was helping change out an auger and drill rod joining. The employee was cleaning excess dirt out of a bolt hole when the drill rig moved forward, the drill rod and the auger lined up and joined together, and the employee's right middle finger was pinched between the two. His fingertip was amputated at the first joint. He was hospitalized.
