A three-person crew was setting up a pipe stand for a 40-foot-long pipe. With one person handling each side of the pipe stand, the raised roller part of the stand was lowered into the socket of the stand. The injured employee's right ring finger was caught between the stand and the adjustment nut, resulting in an injury that led to the amputation of the fingertip.
