The injured employee was standing behind another employee as they observed factory operations. The other employee was opening a mold latch using a metal cheater pipe. The latch kicked back, causing the cheater pipe to fly out and strike the injured employee, causing a laceration, contusion, and fracture to right side of his face. The employee was hospitalized and required surgery.
