Final narrative
On March 27, 2025, an employee snipped the banding straps off two bundles of universal mill (UM) plates (3/4" x 10" x 20') on a 45-foot flatbed trailer. He then worked to combine the two bundles using an overhead crane inside the warehouse. He unhooked the chain on one side of the suspended load. Six UM plates started sliding and knocked the employee from the trailer to the floor. The sliding UM plates then fell on the employee. The employee was hospitalized with a broken right heel, lacerations to the head, and bruising.
