An employee was helping to attach an automated flagger assistance device platform to the rear hitch of a truck. He placed his left index finger inside the hitch mount area to locate the pinhole for alignment. As a co-worker repositioned the platform, the components shifted and caught the employee's finger between the platform and the hitch assembly, resulting in a laceration with a partial fingertip amputation.
