Before the incident
The operator on Kiefel #2 was attempting to remove the plastic plug from the plastic roll 's center core. The operator put 3 fingers of his right hand inside the center hole of the plastic plug and was pulling the plug towards him.
What happened
The plug suddenly released which caused the operator 's right hand to quickly move back to strike his right knee at an odd angle which caused a sprain to the operator 's pinky finger of his right hand. The operator notified his Supervisor and after a brief discussion the operator decided to continue to work to see if his injury would get better or worse. After about 4 hours ([REDACTED]) the operator decided that he should probably seek medical attention.
