Before the incident
Repositioning the load on the container to prepare for loading onto the truck and transport to landfill.
What happened
The driver was servicing a customer roll off container that contained rolled paper products. There were some rolls that were unstable on the top of the load and the driver was attempting to reposition the rolls prior to loading to prevent them from falling off and to allow the tarp system to properly cover the container. As he was moving a roll that weighed approximately 50-100 pounds as estimated by the supervisor and the roll fell back onto his left hand catching his left hand between the roll and the top of the roll off container. The driver sustained an open injury to the left fourth finger and called for first aid response at customer location from safety.
