Before the incident
EE was monitoring Line 6 before the extruder quit working.
What happened
he A Substrate extruder stopped working in the middle of a run (we were packing). When the line broke the capstock that continued coming out of the die (+ - 200 lb hr) wrapped around the metal squeegee that is adjacent to the rubber roll. The operator was using a plastic safety cutter to cut the warm material off the squeegee and had a leather work glove on his left hand pulling the strip away as he cut the wrapped plastic. As he was pulling the cutter through the material with some level of force (he said he had his left hand out of the line of fire as it was pulling material to his left side as he was pulling the cutter more towards the middle of his body) he said just as it was going through the last ½fl or so it fikickedfl to the left striking his left hand. He initially didn™t know he was cut since the razor blade was so sharp until he saw the blood. Retrieving the cutter it showed that the tip had snapped off exposing the blade.
