Changeover; lowering platform to step off

As the employee was lowering the decorator platform employee misjudged the distance of the platform being lowered all the way and as he went to step off the platform he missed the step below and fell on his knee. The lift was about 12 inches too high from the base. Employee notified the interim shift supervisor but declined medical treatment and self treated with ice and anti-inflammatory. The next day the employee decided that he should seek medical attention and visited the local ER for treatment. X-rays were performed and were non-conclusive and was referred to ortho for further treatment. OTC meds rest and ice were recommended for treatment. Employee was given authorization to return work however with modification of 0 prolonged standing walking until cleared by ortho. Drug and alcohol panels are TBD. Witness statements are pending.
