The employee was preparing to remove a mechanical guard for the drive belts for a ball mill to inspect them for wear and to see if they were loose.

Employee started to remove the bolts from the drive pulley mechanical guard. While removing the last bolt with wrench the guard shifted and employee 's finger became pinched between the guard he was removing and the guard on the lower end of the drive pulley assembly.

Laceration and fracture to left finger.

The shifting of the mechanical guard for the mill drive pulley assembly caused the injury to occur.
