Repositioning Coil on Uncoiler
What happened
There was a slit coil on the uncoiler that was being stamped on Press 43. The coil was becoming loose on the uncoiler and mandrel as it was being fed into the press. Because the OD was becoming off-centered the employee held a 2x4 to assist the forklift in pushing the slit coil to recenter. The employee held the 2X4 with both hands as the forklift driver attempted to push the 2X4 with the forks onto the mandrel. nThe employees left hand became pinned in between the steel slit coil and the 2X4 while the forks pushed the 2X4 against the lower ID of the slit coil. This caused a contusion to the left knuckle above the index finger and the palm of the employees left hand.
