Before the incident

Attempting to remove crane sling from around coils placed into rack for #9 Repair

What happened

Employee had placed three smaller coils weighing 560lbs each into the east side of a rack for #9 Repair with Jib [REDACTED]. The rack had already been loaded with two larger coils weighing over 2000lbs on the west side of the rack. After employee placed the smaller three coils into rack the three cols leaned against the larger two in rack. The employee then removed sling from Jib [REDACTED] hook. The employee then proceeded to remove the sling from around the smaller coils by hand. As the employee attempted to remove the sling the three smaller coils pinched the employee 's left middle finger between the larger coils. Employee was able to pull finger out from between the coils and reported incident to Shift Management.
