What happened
On [REDACTED] at [REDACTED] an Engine mechanic was driving the big forklift to move an engine can. When preparing to back up the mechanic placed her hand behind her as you would if you backed up an old car. The door on the forklift was not latched and closed on the mechanic thumb. The mechanic parked the forklift and talked with the supervisors. The shift was near it end and the mechanic had a small bruise under the nail. The mechanic went to get it checked after work and it was revealed that it was a minimal transverse fracture. Mechanic was prescribed meds and was recommended to keep the thumb elevated. No work restrictions were reported and no loss of time at work occurred.
