Checking tension on conveyor chains

Maintenance TM was looking to replace sections of chain on the new Packaging Palletizer. The TM bent down to tap the chain to test which one needed to be replaced first. This System has a Conveyor Activation Sensor that will start up the conveyor once it is flagged by a pallet. During this process the TM’s shirt fell in front of the Conveyor Activation Sensor and the conveyor unexpectedly started back up. The TM’s right middle finger was caught between the chain and sprocket resulting in a fingertip fracture amputation.
