Before the incident
he employee was working on separating two tools of a setup by sweating them apart. The tool set was heated and the employee moved towards the setup to hook up the chains for the overhead crane and apply water to the inside of the setup via the water hose. The employee remained too close to the load and ran up the crane without de-slacking the chains which caused the boiling water inside the tooling to splash out. This dramatic action paired with the employee’s pants being tucked inside their boots trapped boiling water inside of their boot from the splashing and caused them to sustain a 2nd degree burn to the top of their left foot.
