Before the incident
I was trying to inject lidocaine into an infected wound on patient 's leg. The patient has autism and is nonverbal The mother nurses and Residents were holding the patient. Intranasal versed was administered and seemed to calm the child.
What happened
The child kicked very hard while I was administering the lidocaine bending the needle. The needle went into my nondominant hand - right ring finger
