Engineering had a wooden parts box they were going to dispose of employee requested to take the box and was granted permission to have the box. After attempting to pick up the box the employee re positioned to establish a better grip and did not see a splinter from the wooden box sticking out and the splinter entered the backside of the left calf muscle. Resulting in an approximate 3 inch splinter in the back of the left calf muscle.
