The employees were running cut downs (shorter lengths of belt that are not on a bulk roll). These belts are kept on a pallet stored in a vertical position on the floor by the Cut Off.

The employee squatted down to place the left hand under the cut down and the right on top to begin a lift. They stood up and turned the belt to a horizontal position. They threw the belt in a sideways motion onto the cut off rollers and felt pain in the mid-back area.
