Before the incident

I had been taking a break and another RN was wheeling the pt back to her rm when I heard that RN calling out for help. I ran in and pushed the emergency button.

What happened

Injury was a R kneecap dislocation. My pt was having an emergency (we initially thought she was having a seizure) and was sitting in a wheelchair. We hit the emergency button and got a lot of people in the rm quickly. I managed to lift the pt (with help) onto the bed. But I ended up sitting on the bed and needing to get her legs over me onto the bed. In the process of pulling her legs over across me I pushed off with my R leg at an awkward angle and felt my kneecap pop out of place. I looked down and saw it was off to the right. I knew I needed to get out of the room so they didn 't have two emergencies in the room but knew that I wouldn 't be able to walk with it dislocated so I popped it back into place. I managed to limp out to the nurses ' station and sat down then got to a bed to lay down. Then I went over to the ED to get it checked out.
