What happened
Employee was using an Exacto knife to remove a calibration sticker from a tool. He was not wearing proper PPE (hand protection) at the time of injury. His hand slipped causing the knife to strike him at the base of his left finger causing a small laceration. The incident was reported to EHS the wound was cleaned and dressed and the employee returned to work. A short while later it was observed that the very tip of the Exacto knife was missing. There was concern that the metal may have been inside the wound so the employee was sent to Concentra for further evaluation. No metal was found inside the wound however the doctor determined that the wound required surgical glue.
