Before the incident
Injured employee (IW) was working as a Group Lead at the time of the injury While operating the EDL wrapper a jam occurred which was not able to be cleared by routine methods of operating computer controls from the control panel The Group Lead was called over for the situation and stated that a manual move of the roller assembly would be necessary to fix the issue Two other Wrapper employees positioned themselves around the EDL wrapper to push the roller assembly towards the IW who was pulling the roller assembly from within the EDL wrapper As the roller assembly was moving the IW stepped back and tripped over a metal bar at the base of the machine In order to steady themselves the IW reached up with their left hand and grabbed onto the roller assembly When the IW did this the roller came in contact and went over the last knuckle of their left pinky finger causing it to amputate within their glove The IW stumbled out of the machine and immediately requested managerial intervention and
