Cutting carpet for the [REDACTED] drag pad.

The injured person was cutting carpet for the [REDACTED] slitter drag pad with our standard safety utility knife with a fresh blade. They laid the carpet strip (78 inch long) on the carpet table and used a clamp to secure the north end of the carpet to the table. The carpet strip needed to be cut in half to fit into the drag pad. The injured person then folded the carpet strip in half and used their left forearm to hold the carpet together. They used the utility knife to cut the carpet and cut south towards their body. The knife blade caught on the carpet and the momentum of the cut and snag caused the knife to come up off the carpet and strike the person in the left forearm. The blade cut through their A4 rated armguard and caused a 3 cm laceration to their left arm. The injured person received in house first aid treatment. They then were taken to a local clinic where they received four stitches.

Cut-Laceration

Utility knife blade.

Cut-Laceration to Left Arm - Lower caused by Utility knife blade.
