What happened
The employee was hooking up a tire cart to the logistics vehicle when the tire cart pinched the employee 's right-hand thumb midway between the knuckle and joint of the finger resulting in a laceration that required stitches. The event happened while the employee utilized their right hand to pull the tire carts tounge to the hitch while the employee 's left hand was on the hitch to release it from the lock position. As the tounge came into the position the hitch failed to release causing the right hand to be pinched between both the tounge and the hitch resulting in a laceration under the employee 's glove.
