Before the incident
The employee and their crew were removing the ladder at drill to perform a 3 person ladder deployment. The employee was in the middle of the ladder and another member of the crew was supposed to secure the end of the ladder but they were confused as to which ladder they were removing and did not grab the end of the ladder.
What happened
35’ extension ladder dropped on Right forearm from about a foot above his arm while the ladder was getting pulled out of the back of the laddertruck (fire engine). The injured employee was in the middle of the Ladder and another employee who was to secure the end of the ladder was confused as to which ladder they were removing and did not grab the end of the ladder. The end of the ladder came out of the tray and fell onto the injured employee 's forearm. which resulted in immediate swelling and pain at the midshaft of his right forearm. He was unable to grip or carry anything immediately after the injury.
