What happened
A second shift employee removed their cut resistant gloves to complete paperwork Upon finishing the employee did not put the gloves back on before using a Klever [REDACTED] safety knife to cut plastic banding on a material bundle While attempting to cut the third band the employee encountered resistance and applied additional pressure This caused the plastic safety tip covering the blade to break off As the knife cut through the banding the exposed blade struck the employees opposite hand resulting in a laceration between the thumb and index finger First aid was administered on site However due to the depth and location of the injury the employee was sent to Urgent Care where they received four stitches It was noted that the employee was not wearing cut resistant gloves at the time of the incident and their noncutting hand was positioned in the line of fire
