Operating crane

A team member was using an overhead crane to return cable tray side rails to storage. During the lowering process the bundle became wedged prompting the employee to call their supervisor for assistance. Together they secured the bundle atop the stacked material and removed the nylon lifting slings from the spreader bar. While attempting to remove the slings from around the bundle the employee experienced a sudden onset of neck pain. First aid was administered immediately. The employee reported a pain level of 9 10 which decreased slightly to 8 10 after applying ice and ibuprofen. The employee requested medical evaluation. The site offered either an Industrial-Based Massage or a visit to the local occupational clinic the following day. The employee agreed and went home to rest.
