Before the incident
While treating a patient a nurse and I were replacing defibrillator pads on a patients chest. I did not notice a nurse on the other side of the patient was holding an IV start. While placing the pads i quickly lowered my hand onto the patients chest which caused the needle to puncture my left hands pointer finger.
