The employee was in a patient room setting up a recliner sleeper for a patient’s family. While attempting to pull out the bottom portion of the sleeper the mechanism became jammed. The employee was positioned on the side of the sleeper and continued to apply force to extend the lower portion. During this process a metal piece dislodged and dropped onto the employee’s foot toe.
