Before the incident
Employee had to move two 55-gallon drums of PCS2 T-005 corrosive chemical used to treat recirculation water at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The 55 gallon plastic drums are brought in by the vendor on a pallet with a motorized fork truck. They get staged in an area until needed for processing. The employee used an overhead jib crane and drum lifter attachment to lift the drum off the pallet then placed on the floor. Once on the floor the drum dolly is used and the drum is placed about 20’ from starting point next to the pump room in the [REDACTED]. While moving the drum employee stated he hit a rock or impediment on the floor. This caused the drum and dolly to shift to his right pinching the right hand between the drum dolly handle and Stronghold locker. Employee reported this incident to his supervisor and was advised to see the Occupational Nurse for examination. The employee given an ice pack and OTC meds. Employee went back to work.
