What happened
Employee was in the back of an ambulance with patients on the way to OU trauma. Employee was preparing to start an IV (sharps not yet out) when there was a sudden hard stop without warning. One patient who was on a bench in a 5-point harness reached out and employee supported her to not fall while supporting herself with the other hand on the net. Employee 's lower half slid sharply toward the front of the truck tweaking her back. She spent the remainder of the shift (until [REDACTED]) attempting to stretch and work out the pain between calls but it continued to be more and more painful. What began as 4 10 discomfort escalated to 8 10 when moving and or twisting.
