Before the incident
Patient grabbed needle from nurse and tech made an attempt to grab the patient 's arm and the needle stick prior to going into the patient went through my hand.
What happened
I was asked to help assist with holding down a patient with 4 other staff members. The patient was getting erratic. The medication was to be given IM. The patient was starting to become agitated while getting held down. The patient then grabbed the nurse and grabbed the needle before it was used. In the motion of trying to regain control the needle stick happened. RN Lead was notified right away.
