Before the incident
The employee was preparing to open up one of the panels on one of the PESA test boxes for the PIM M109A7 program to access an accelerometer.
What happened
When the employee removed the last screw from the test unit PESA box and removed the panel cover the employee came in contact with a white powdery substance. Within approx. 10 minutes of exposure contact with this powder the employee started to experience burning sensations pain on her palms and finger tips along with grip strength and dexterity loss. The engineers use super glue to secure electrical components in place the previous engineers used excess glue and closed the box up creating a blooming affect of cured glue. This has never been seen before in the 20+ years of this program.
Injury or illness
The employee experienced contact dermatitis on both of their hands specifically do the palms and finger tips experiencing a burning sensation (no physical skin burns) dexterity and grip loss. This lasted for about five days each day returning slowly to normal losing symptoms.
Object or substance involved
Cured super glue specifically the Ethyl 2 Cyanoacrylate within the DURO brand super glue that came into contact with their skin hands.
