Bindery employee was cleaning residual glue on a folding machine The guard was lifted the interlock was bypassed and the machine was running Employees hand made light contact with moving parts He reacted quickly pulling away from the machine In doing so his finger struck with a nonmoving component Employee suffered skin abrasion on the index finger of his lefthand There was a small amount of blood and swelling First aid consisted of cleaning the wound a bandage for his finger and icepack for the swelling Employee drove himself to the clinic shortly after filing this report
