Before the incident
The mechanic and a coworker were testing the drive on the pipe mill after performing repairs.
What happened
After jogging the mill foreword a few feet for testing the mechanic switched the drive into reverse to test the components in reverse. While leaning against the mill stand making observations an attachment to the machine shot out and struck him on his forearm. The attachment was sat by the machine operator and was not part of the repair job.
