What happened
Team Member was loading a reel into the Planetary cradle and the shaft was not sitting right. They used an 18oz dead blow hammer to get the shaft to seat properly so it would tighten it down. They stated they had the left hand on the metal crank and missed the shaft striking their left thumb. They were wearing gloves but experienced pain immediately contacted the Lead person. They removed the glove and the left thumb was split and nail cracked on the side closest the palm. They were transported to the ER and received a tetanus shot antibiotics and several stitches to close the wound.
