What happened

On [REDACTED] at [REDACTED] athlete was attempting to place reso packages down the shipping chutes. Athlete was attempting to grab a box and when they attempted to grip the box they felt a shooting pain in their left hand (thumb area). Athlete was using two hands when picking up the boxes. Athlete stated they were picking up a size 20 box that was full of jerseys (exact weight of box undetermined). When the injury first happened the athlete described the pain as a 8 out of 10 with 10 being the worst. Athlete was offered ice and ibuprofen. Athlete accepted ibuprofen and ice pack and stated that pain had declined to a 6 out of 10. Athlete stated they had no pre-existing injuries to their left hand and most of pain was located in the joint area between the wrist and left thumb.
