EMployee utilizing the Vertical Reciprocating Conveyor (VRC) to transport a utility cart from the pick mod to the first floor which requires adding a rubber chock to the wheel to prevent the cart from moving.

What happened

On [REDACTED] an Inventory Control Athlete removed a wheel chock out from under an IC red cart on [REDACTED] & felt a sharp pain in their lower back once they stood up. Upon re-enactment the Athlete stated they lifted the cart with one hand and pulled the chock out from underneath with the other hand. The rolling cart contained 4 totes with variety of items for a total weight of 74lbs. Incident was immediately escalated to safety and direct supervisor. The athlete accepted first aid [REDACTED] and Ice pack after a period of time & requested additional medical care. The Athlete did state they had a lower back injury a [REDACTED] however the current pain to their lower back was attributed to improper handling of VRC chocks. Several IC athletes were not present in the sitewide VRC retraining from [REDACTED] which clarified chock usage & placement based on the cart type & weight.
