What happened

The planer setup was checking the quality of boards for size at the gradex. While returning a HF 2x4 16 ' board back to the line the team member received an approximately 2 length sliver into the palm of his left hand. The team member was wearing a rubber cut-less glove at the time. The team member immediately reported the incident to the supervisor. The onsite EMT was notified and conducted an evaluation. Due to the location of the sliver and apparent length it was recommended the team member be taken for off-site medical care for removal. The Physician attempted to remove the sliver but ended up making a small incision to remove the sliver. The wound was closed with 1 suture. The team member was advised on wound care and returned to work. Complete a PPE assessment in the Planer that assesses all jobs that handle lumber.
