Before the incident
The employee had just exited the tractor and was walking on the catwalk to disconnect the electrical and gladhand hoses.
What happened
The employee stated that while walking back to disconnect the electrical 3-way and gladhand hoses he thought it was easier to step down onto the tractor ladder step and reach out and perform the disconnect. The connections were offset to the employee 's right when looking at the trailer. As the employee stepped down the instep of his right work boot caught the mounting bracket for the ladder step and the employee rolled his right ankle. He also felt a pop just off the side of his right ankle.
